Name: wild Distribution: openSUSE Tumbleweed
Version: 0.11.0 Vendor: openSUSE
Release: 1.1 Build date: Sat Oct 24 12:50:10 2026
Group: Unspecified Build host: reproducible

Packager: https://bugs.opensuse.org
Url: https://github.com/wild-linker/wild
Summary: A very fast linker for Linux
Wild is a linker with the goal of being very fast for iterative
development. It supports the linker plugin API originally part of the
Gold linker (also supported by GNU ld and Mold), and offers extensive
linker-script features.

The plan is to eventually make it incremental, however that isn't
yet implemented.

Changelog

* Sat Oct 24 2026 Eyad Issa <eyadlorenzo@gmail.com>
  - Refresh disable-tidy-tests.patch for the 0.11.0 source layout
  - Require Rust 1.99.0 or newer to build Wild
  - Update to version 0.11.0:
    * Enable the Wasm feature by default. Wild can now link Wasm
      modules, though debug information is not supported yet.
    * Greatly expand GNU linker script support. Wild can now link
      Linux kernel modules and is close to linking the Linux kernel.
    * Advance the Mac port: Wild can link itself on Mac, and a
      maintainer now uses it as the default linker for Rust on Mac.
      The port is not enabled by default yet.
    * Improve performance on several filesystems and add general
      optimizations. ELF COMDAT support adds some overhead.
    * Limit default threads to 32 to avoid contention on Linux's
      per-inode mutex; --threads can override the limit.
    * Expand benchmarks to cover more filesystems and existing or new
      output files.
    * Add linker script commands and expressions, section attributes,
      symbol and alignment handling, orphan handling, and additional
      GNU linker options. Add AArch64, x86_64, and ppc64le
      relocation and relaxation support.
    * Add --image-base, --only-keep-debug, --no-keep-memory,
    - -discard-*, executable stack, and linker version options.
    * Improve parallel archive parsing, partial linking, relocation
      processing, debug relocation handling, memory allocation, and
      filesystem output handling.
    * Fix linker script symbols and location counters, LTO and
      dynamic symbols, TLS and PLT relocations, GOT/PLT relaxation,
      ELF properties and section handling, archive/shared-library
      selection, and deterministic output.
    * Extend Wasm linking with shared-memory TLS, exports, stripping,
      feature checks, section retention, and symbol handling.
    * Advance Mach-O linking with dylib, TLS, fixup, exports, and
      compact unwind support. Add COFF link.exe-style argument
      parsing.
    * See the full changelog at
      /usr/share/doc/packages/wild/CHANGELOG.md.
* Fri Aug 07 2026 Eyad Issa <eyadlorenzo@gmail.com>
  - Remove the obsolete RustSec risk waiver
* Tue Aug 04 2026 Eyad Issa <eyadlorenzo@gmail.com>
  - Update to version 0.10.0:
    * Add support for --gdb-index and more linker script arguments
    * Drop unused flag --debug-address
    * Much porting work has been done
    * We now avoid using mmap on the output file if it's on a btrfs
      or vfat filesystem
    * See full changelog at /usr/share/doc/packages/wild/CHANGELOG.md
    * CVE-2026-25541: integer overflow in 'BytesMut:reserve' can lead
    to undefined behavior and crashes (bsc#1274104)
* Sat May 30 2026 Eyad Issa <eyadlorenzo@gmail.com>
  - Expand %description to highlight Gold linker plugin API support
    and linker-script features.
  - Add disable-tidy-tests.patch to honor WILD_TEST_IGNORE_FORMAT
    in check_text_files test, allowing it to be disabled during
    packaging.
* Fri May 29 2026 Eyad Issa <eyadlorenzo@gmail.com>
  - Upgrade to version 0.9.0:
    * Lot of refactoring work to port to other platforms
    * Wild now supports the linker plugin API that was originally
      part of the Gold linker, but which is also supported by GNU ld
      and Mold.
    * Lots more linker-script features were implemented during this
      release.
* Sat May 02 2026 Eyad Issa <eyadlorenzo@gmail.com>
  - Initial packaging at version 0.8.0
