Changelog

* Mon Oct 26 2026 Paolo Stivanin <info@paolostivanin.com>
  - Update to 0.11.0 (upstream tag v0.11.0, 2026-10-25):
    * Editing: Restrict Editing (file commands, user name, read-only and
      comments-only protection), mail merge to any record or a range of
      records, Convert Text to Table keeps inline content, Convert to
      Text asks for the separator, Split Table fixes, Track Changes
      Accept/Reject can move to the next change, AutoFormat of
    * bold*/_italic_, border lines and tables, Tab/Backspace indents
      and Enter twice for headings, field switches (Upper, Lower, Caps,
      DollarText, Hex...) and more fields updated, Read Mode page color.
    * UI: Format Painter pointer, ruler/save/print keep the view,
      status bar names the page in view, comment times in the user's
      time zone, real tabs in dialogs, SmartArt/chart resize handles,
      table-insert grid preview, highlight shortcut, autoscroll
      follows the scroll direction, translated ribbon tooltips.
    * Layout and import/export: many pagination, table, floating-table
      and rendering fixes closer to Word; DOCX East Asian font hints,
      default font size, text-box story sharing, Word 2003 headers and
      notes; ODT, RTF/LaTeX and spreadsheet import fixes.
    * Proofing and languages: Spanish proofing (es-ES, es-MX, es-419,
      es-UY), proofing options for more languages, Turkic Change Case,
      Khmer ligature fix, Romanian translation, interface translations
      from craft-i18n.
    * Hardening: caps and bounds on VML paths, picture memory, mailing
      text, ui_requests queue, .aff alphabets and numeric parsing;
      encrypted DOCX packages now require the data integrity check;
      file.exportPng validates the extension.
    * CLI/MCP: type_text with paragraphs is one command and MCP keeps
      serving when the app is not open yet.
    * Re-vendor with update=true (669 crates, up from 550): craft-libs
      is pinned to a newer rev (adds craft-i18n with the ICU 2.3 data
      and formatting crates, craft-winprint-gdi), plus chrono's
      iana-time-zone and the release tooling's networking and signing
      stack (hyper, rustls, aws-lc-sys, sigstore, quinn, cms/der) that
      only the non-shipped xtask workspace member uses. New licences in
      the tree: aws-lc-sys (ISC/Apache-2.0/MIT/BSD-3-Clause mix),
      webpki-root-certs (CDLA-Permissive-2.0, CA data), colored
      (MPL-2.0, xtask only) and r-efi (MIT OR Apache-2.0 OR
      LGPL-2.1-or-later, MIT chosen); none is copyleft that applies to
      the shipped binaries. cargo_vendor's lockfile audit reports no
      RUSTSEC advisories (the cargo_audit service itself is a no-op).
  - Update the fixed metainfo release date to 2026-10-25.
  - Skip the new wall-clock test a_document_of_many_paragraphs_lays_out_in_linear_time
    in %check (timing-ratio assertion, failed on an OBS aarch64 worker)
  - Also skip a_long_unbreakable_word_lays_out_in_linear_time in %check
    (same wall-clock ratio assertion, 25.7 vs limit 24 on an OBS x86_64 worker)
* Fri Oct 23 2026 Paolo Stivanin <info@paolostivanin.com>
  - Update to 0.10.0 (upstream tag v0.10.0, 2026-10-22):
    * Editing: shape fills with gradients and transparency, personal
      templates for File > New, Format Page Numbers, Table of Figures,
      Split Cells, Convert Text to Table, Cell Margins, Drop Cap and
      picture Size dialogs, Insert Caption, Word's Spike, Word 2003
      legacy menu keys, ribbon groups that shrink to fit, Track
      Changes move tracking, printing scaled to another paper size.
    * Rendering and layout: triple and Word-pattern dashed borders,
      radar charts, legacy text effects and form fields, collapsible
      Navigation pane headings, comments in headers, footers, notes
      and text boxes, many pagination and table fixes closer to Word.
    * Import/export: DOCX glossary (building blocks), OpenType
      ligatures, positional tabs, East Asian layout and mixed
      Hebrew/Latin run order; RTF/ODT sections, ODT column widths,
      master-page headers/footers and embedded MathML; RTF East Asian
      code pages, HTML furigana, Markdown reference links; tagged-PDF
      figures; copied equations go on the clipboard as MathML.
    * Proofing and languages: English dialects (en-GB, en-CA,
      en-AU...) flag each other's spellings, German hyphenation,
      Indonesian spelling, ISO 8859-1 Hunspell dictionaries and
      unreadable-dictionary reporting, proofing settings kept across
      restarts; Dutch, Danish, Slovenian and Romanian interfaces.
    * Linux: Flatpak host font folders are scanned, AltGr types
      accented letters instead of opening KeyTips, and saving to a
      GVFS-mounted NAS share no longer fails on a refused mode change.
    * CLI/MCP: wordcraft-cli runs script files, opens password-
      protected Word files with --password and can update fields
      during conversion; MCP open_document takes a password.
    * Hardening (no CVE ids): pipe or device paths no longer hang or
      exhaust memory, tables nest at most 24 deep, image limits are
      checked before allocating, overflow-checked measurements,
      stricter colour, HTML entity and percent-escape parsing;
      date/time conversion now goes through chrono.
    * Many more fixes in 0.9.0 (2026-10-21) and 0.10.0; see
      upstream's release notes for the full lists.
    * Re-vendor with update=true (530 crates): chrono 0.4.45 is the
      only new crate (MIT OR Apache-2.0, std feature only); the rest
      are minor bumps (ICU crates 2.4.0, tokio 1.54.1 and others)
      with unchanged licences. The newly embedded de.pat (hyph-utf8)
      is MIT. License audit finds no new copyleft, License tag
      unchanged; quick-xml stays at 0.41.0 and no ruzstd is vendored.
      cargo_vendor's lockfile audit reports no RUSTSEC advisories
      (the cargo_audit service itself is a no-op in
      obs-service-cargo 7.2.2).
  - Update the fixed metainfo release date to 2026-10-22.
  - Legal-Review-Notice: list the embedded hyph-utf8 hyphenation
    patterns (pl/it/de.pat MIT, pt.pat BSD-3-Clause).
  - Keep all eight %check skips (their test bodies are unchanged in
    0.10.0) and refresh the comments: upstream CI now tests the whole
    workspace, but with the optional craft-fonts set this build omits.
  - Skip four new 0.10.0 tests that fail on the OBS workers (three
    layout assertions needing the optional fonts and one needing a GPU
    adapter)
* Sun Oct 18 2026 Martin Pluskal <mpluskal@suse.com>
  - Update to 0.8.0 (upstream tag v0.8.0, 2026-10-18):
    * Editing: header/footer editing by double-clicking the margin,
      Alt+numpad character codes, F11 full screen, Ctrl+drag object
      copy, tab stops on the ruler, Sort and Formula table dialogs,
      table formulas with cell references.
    * Import/export: password-protected .doc (RC4/XOR), mail merge
      .xls recipients, RTF/ODT tracked changes, DOCX Office 2016
      charts, legacy form fields, PDF Hebrew/Arabic reading order.
    * Proofing: Korean, Swedish, Croatian and Vietnamese interface;
      Russian, Turkish and Czech spelling/grammar; British spellings.
    * Hardening (no CVE ids): hostile-document DoS and link-export
      guards, bounded hostile run lengths and header/footer depth,
      image byte budgets, overflow-checked measurement parsing.
      Crash recovery with unsaved-work offer; CLI --help.
    * Re-vendor with update=true: chardetng 1.0.0, encoding_rs 0.8.42
      (BSD-3-Clause, already in the tag), craft-pdf 0.1.0, arboard
      3.7.0 and combine 4.6.9 (all else MIT or Apache-2.0).
      License audit finds no new copyleft, License tag unchanged.
      No CVEs in the v0.7.0 to v0.8.0 range, and no ruzstd in the
      vendor set (not affected by RUSTSEC-2026-0344).
    * The three 0.7.0 %check skips still match 0.8.0 tests and stay,
      as does the wall-clock layout skip. Four more 0.8.0 tests fail
      identically on both arches in suites upstream CI never runs
      (two layout, two PDF extraction) and are skipped; git-core is
      now a BuildRequires for the xtask asset test that shells out
      to git.
* Thu Oct 15 2026 Martin Pluskal <mpluskal@suse.com>
  - Update to 0.7.0 (upstream tag v0.7.0):
    * Import: WMF/EMF pictures, RTF code pages and page setup, tables
      laid out on cell edges, Wingdings/Webdings/Symbol as Unicode.
    * Layout: blank pages put sections on the right side, paragraph
      spacing is the larger of after/before, shape drag anchoring.
    * Print through craft-print, Word 2003 XML save, ink kept in runs,
      drawings/VML kept with margins and fit.
    * Track Changes Accept All fix, comment balloons, caret contrast,
      middle-click scroll, MathML copy, Read Aloud without console.
    * Proofing: Italian (it_IT/it_CH) and Croatian spelling/grammar,
      hyphenation catalog, equation gallery and watermarks.
    * Re-vendor with update=true; license audit finds no new copyleft
      (self_cell still Apache-2.0 option), so the License tag is
      unchanged. No CVEs in the v0.6.1 to v0.7.0 range.
    * Scope %check around three 0.7.0 regressions that fail on every
      OBS arch (file-access ratchet tripped by the new Word 2003 sniff
      helper, one GPU-adapter UI test, one headless focus UI test);
      the wall-clock layout skip stays.
    * Many more fixes and improvements; see upstream's release notes
      for the full list.
* Tue Oct 13 2026 Martin Pluskal <mpluskal@suse.com>
  - Update to 0.6.1:
    * Tables: select, insert and move with the mouse, resize by dragging
      borders, double-click a border to AutoFit, vertical merges lay out
      as one cell, and the right-click menu offers the table's commands.
    * Layout closer to Word: kerning, automatic paragraph spacing, list
      indents, keep-with-next, column breaks, hidden end-of-cell marks and
      text frames in headers, footers and cells.
    * Paginated Reading Mode, Hide White Space in Print Layout, print
      preview with page range, odd/even, copies and collate, and comments
      in printed and PDF output.
    * Find: Ctrl+F searches in the Navigation pane, Alt+Q opens the "Tell
      me" command search, and Shift+F10 opens the context menu at the caret.
    * Complex scripts: Myanmar, Khmer and Indic shaping, automatic RTL
      paragraph direction while typing, and numeral display modes.
    * Proofing: Portuguese (pt-BR), Polish and Bulgarian hyphenation,
      persistent custom dictionary, and non-English runs are skipped by
      English proofing.
    * New German interface language, improved Spanish and Polish
      translations.
    * DOCX/DOC/ODT: preserve fonts, ink, custom XML stores and complex-script
      formatting on save; .doc import gains pictures, shapes and tab
      stops; ODT import reads page setup from styles.xml; native saves
      protect the original file.
    * New documents follow the system region (A4, centimetres, decimal
      comma outside the US); add fonts at run time; clipboard pictures
      and foreign formatting survive paste on Wayland.
    * MCP: confine file access with --automation-read-root and
    - -automation-write-root.
    * Hardening: pictures travel in the reply and exported links keep only
      safe targets (upstream names no CVE id for it; quick-xml stays at
      0.41, so the RUSTSEC-2026-0195 fix is retained).
    * Re-vendored with cargo_vendor update=true (552 crates): new
      wl-clipboard-rs, zbus, wuff, unicode-script and miniz_oxide stacks
      are all MIT/Apache-2.0/Zlib; no new copyleft beyond the declared
      Unicode-3.0, Ubuntu-font-1.0, OFL-1.1 and CC0-1.0 set.
    * Many UI, dark theme, ribbon and accessibility fixes.
* Sun Oct 11 2026 Martin Pluskal <mpluskal@suse.com>
  - Skip the wall-clock layout-linearity test in %check: its timing
    assertion measures shared-worker speed (ratios 33-80 for identical
    sources on three OBS workers), not the code; the other layout tests
    still run.
* Sun Oct 11 2026 Martin Pluskal <mpluskal@suse.com>
  - Initial package, version 0.5.0:
    * Native word processor with a familiar ribbon: styles, tables, track
      changes, references, mail merge, plus Zotero cite-while-you-write.
    * Reads and writes .docx (macros, signatures and charts survive saving),
      imports Word 97-2003 .doc and password-protected documents via
      pure-Rust agile decryption, opens ODT/RTF/HTML/Markdown/LaTeX, exports
      PDF with a text layer.
    * Word equations (OMML) with an editor, charts, SmartArt, text boxes and
      WMF/EMF pictures render instead of being dropped; RTL/Persian support.
    * File dialogs no longer freeze the window on Linux; touchpad scrolling,
      pinch zoom, dark page mode and a system theme following the OS.
    * Headless wordcraft-cli converter and command server with MCP support.
    * Namespace-declaration memory-exhaustion DoS in document XML parsing
      fixed via quick-xml 0.41 (RUSTSEC-2026-0195).
    * Vendored crates carry no copyleft beyond Unicode-3.0 (ICU),
      Ubuntu-font-1.0 (eframe default font) and CC0-1.0 hyphenation data;
      cargo_vendor runs with update=true as upstream ships no vendor tree.
